TrainingWe have the ability to send our applications engineer on-site to your facility to program your machines for in-house inspection by your personnel. Regardless if you are in start-up mode or in need of training for your quality personnel, we also provide training for CMM programmers and CMM operators; both on-site and at our facility. Training can also include classes that begin with GD&T or beginner to advanced CMM programming training. Not sure of your needs? We can act as a consultant to help determine your exact needs for a seemless quality department. As you will see below we have various training available. Most measurement software applications offer free programming training with the purchase of their software. This is all well an good for general knowledge, but keep in mind that your personnel are grouped with others in various industries requiring the instructor to teach in a very generic manner. Once the course is completed and the programmer returns to your facility, they now have to re-apply thier training to parts that are often more complex than that used in their training class. Allow us to come to you, or you can come to us at our facility with your parts and prints. We will teach as a part-specific course of instruction. Operator Training- Our course of instruction begins with familiarization of the Coordinate Measuring Machine and the basics of its operation. Many people are shocked to learn that the very first CMM was developed in 1868. We find most persons are a bit intimidated by a piece of equipment such as this at first meeting. We then teach the proper handling of components and proper cleaning/preventive maintenance of the machine. Each operator learns to use directories within the PC to access needed programs. With the completion of accessing programs, operators are trained to qualify the probe for accurate measurement and finally execution of the program. Our training only begins here as we teach the operator interpretation of the data and to spot irregularities that may present themselves during measurement. Last but not least, the money saver, each operator undergoes extensive training in crash recovery in the even of a corrupt program. Getting back on track an delivering accurate data in a timely manner provides lower production costs. Basic Programming Training- In order to create executable programs that deliver accurate data, one must have a strong knowledge of print reading and interpretation of ANSI Standard 14.5Y. The use of datums and their correlation to the manufacturing process are key to supplying helpful data. Discussion of prints, datums, and an understanding of the design intent are key elements that provide a foundation of this class. Only through the use of datums can and alignment be formed in the executable program. Seventy-five percent of this class will refer to datums and alignments. Our theory behind this is simply once a correct alignment is formed by using correct datums-measurement is as simple as touching the part and reporting the results. Of course there is a bit more to it than that; which is reserved for Intermediate and Advanced Training. All information covered in our operating training is includedd in this course as well. Intermediate Programming Training- This course is for the programmer who intends to advance to a higher level of data collection via a more complex programming technique. An understanding of Trigonometry is encouraged and advanced manipulation of line code is presented for the most accurate data reporting. Vectors, gage points, repeatability, and the relation of reported data as it relates to a specific manufacturing process are learned. In addition, we teach how to capture data for repeatability studies analysis so that the programmer becomes a vital tool for the engineer. Advanced Programming Training- As a course is designed for the CMM 'guru', programming techniques involving visual basic for total manipulation of line code is presented in this two day course. The advanced programmer is taught to expand their measurement capability with the ability to create programs for complex parts through complex techniques.
